UFC: Fight for the Troops 2
Saturday, January 22nd at 6 p.m on Spike TV
Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas, USA
Main Card:
Evan Dunham vs. Melvin Guillard (Lightweight Bout)
Mike Bohn: Evan is too sick to lose this fight. Evan Dunham via Submission R2
Erik Jackson: Should be a fun fight is Melvin decides to show up after his last, very questionable fight. I think this is a better fight for Evan then Kenflo would have been and I think he should be able to win an exciting decision. Evan Dunham via Split Decision
Travis Crowe: This is going to be FOTN furshure. I expect 3 rounds of relentless attack from both Evan and Melvin. I think the most interesting part of this fight will be who has more effective striking, we have all seen what Dunham is possible of, but Guillard coming off of a win over legit striker lil heathen proved his striking isn’t a joke either. Evan Dunham via UD
Jon Gerow: Melvin has predicted that he will be UFC champ by 2011, but coming off a lackluster split decision victory over Jeremy Stephens I am left very unconvinced. Evan proved in his last two fights that he can deal with the speedy explosive fighters (Sean Sherk, Tyson Griffin). I see this fight going one of two ways, either Dunham submits Guillard, or Dunham wins in typical fashion; a 3 round war. Evan Dunham via Unanimous Decision
Paul Curtis: Could end up being a very exciting fight. However, I think Guillard will execute a typical GJ game plan and win a decision. Melvin Guillard via UD.
Patrick Weafer: Dunham is a top contender in the LW division and Guillard isn’t. Training at Jackson’s may be helping Melvin sort out some inconsistencies in his game but I don’t think it will be enough to take out the surging Dunham. Evan Dunham via sub R2.
Matt Mitrione vs. Tim Hague (Heavyweight Bout)
Mike Bohn: Mitrione has looked better and better with every fight, Tim Hague will put up a good fight but I don’t believe he has the skillset to beat Matt. Matt Mitrione via Unanimous Decision
Erik Jackson: I heard Sherdog is taking Tim Hague in this fight. Kind of confused at that. Mitrione is one fucked up dude but it seems to be working to his advantage in the fighting game. Matt Mitrione via TKO R3
Travis Crowe: Meathead via KO R2
Jon Gerow: Hague has more ways to win this fight because of his BJJ, but I cant see his chin lasting more than one round against the heavy handed Mitrione. Its hard not to pick Mitrione who holds victories over Kimbo Slice and Marcus “the darkness” Jones. Matt Mitrione via KO R1
Paul Curtis: Mitrione is so sick, look for him to beat the first white opponent he faces. Matt Mitrione via TKO R2.
Patrick Weafer: I’m a huge fan of both of these fighters, and while it would be great to see Tim Hague do well and stay in the UFC I’m not sure if he’ll be able to do it against Meathead. I’m expecting a Mitrione (T)KO, but here’s to hoping the Canadian is successful. Tim Hague via (T)KO R1.
Mark Hominick vs. George Roop (Featherweight Bout)
Mike Bohn: Everyone is expecting Hominick to come out and show why he is the #1 contender and why he should fight Aldo in Toronto, I think Roop is going to spoil his plans. George Roop via Submission R2
Erik Jackson: While I’m not too excited about this, the winner may be in line to fight Jose at 129. First shot for these two since the merger so I’m sure it’ll be an exciting one. I’ll go with the Canadian. Mark Hominick via Kimura R2
Travis Crowe: This would be an interesting fight if Roop ends Hominick the same way he killed the buzz on the Korean Zombie. That being said, I’ll take Hominick. Mark Hominick via UD

Jon Gerow: Hominick will use his superior technical striking on route to a one sided decision, sorry Roop! Mark Hominick via Unanimous Decision
Paul Curtis: I freaking hate George Roop. I hope he gets KO'd, but I doubt it. Mark Hominick via UD.
Patrick Weafer: This is Hominick’s fight to lose. Hopefully with a victory here we’ll get to see him put on a show againt Aldo in Toronto. He may not beat Jose, but he should get the win this time around. Hominick via UD.
Pat Barry vs. Joey Beltran (Heavyweight Bout)
Mike Bohn: Hmm gonna go against the grain on this one, I think Beltran is the more well rounded fighter and I don’t believe he is planning on standing in front of Barry getting hit for too long. Joey Beltran via Submission R2
Erik Jackson: Although @hypeordie was a dick to me on twitter, I still like him and am expecting him to win. Look for him to work the leg kicks before finishing Joey via gnp. Pat Barry via TKO R2
Travis Crowe: I don’t know what to think about homie HD, after meeting him he immediately became a favourite of mine but as of late specifically the controversial interview he gave about fighting being stupid, I just hope he has trained hard and can put together a vicious combo that ends the Mexicutioners night early. Pat Barry via TKO R3
Jon Gerow: Joey’s stand in the pocket and brawl style is the perfect match-up for an experienced kick boxer in Barry. Now that Barry has been training with ground n pound specialist Brock Lesnar I expect him to have no troubles with any takedown attempts by Beltran. Look for Barry to make quick work of the “Mexicutioner” with a barrage of kickboxing techniques. Pat Barry via KO R1
Paul Curtis: Pat Barry is a major homie. He will KO Joey badly. Pat Barry via KO R2.
Patrick Weafer: I’m not sure if Beltran has the ground game to put Barry in trouble, and HD is a much more accomplished and technical striker. Should be an entertaining fight and Barry should come away with the victory. Pat Barry via (T)KO R3
Cole Miller vs. Matt Wiman (Lightweight Bout)
Mike Bohn: I’m a fan of Miller. I was stoked when he beat Ross, who is about as gay as Wilks. I think Wiman will put up a much tougher fight than Pierson but I don’t think it will be enough to beat Miller who looks better every time he fights. Cole Miller via UD
Erik Jackson: Interesting. Cole Miller via UD
Travis Crowe: UFC 115 unhomie Matt Wiman won’t be so lucky this time and get an early tap. Miller looked great in his last fight against TUF winner Pearson and should have a significant advantage on the ground. Cole Miller via Sub. (kimura) R2
Jon Gerow: If you beat “the real deal” then you’ve got to be the real deal. Miller has more tools to win this one and frankly I hope he wins just so he can (get his ass kicked by) fight Donald Cerrone. Cole Miller via Submission (RNC) R2
Paul Curtis: Whatever. Cole Miller via Submission R1.
Patrick Weafer: Wiman may have the advantage on the feet in this one, but watch for Miller to take him down and submit him in the second. Cole Miller via sub R2.
