TUF 12 Finale Predictions

The Ultimate Fighter 12: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck Finale
Saturday, December 4th at 5 p.m on Spike TV
Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

Main Card:
Stephan Bonnar vs. Igor Pokrajac (Light Heavyweight Bout)
Mike Bohn:
This is basically a showcase fight for Bonnar, hopefully he can have an impressive showing and win 2 straight for the first time since 2007. Stephan Bonnar via TKO R2

Erik Jackson:
The American Physco is one bad dude. After that filthy mean mug after his most recent victory in his last fight, I can’t pick against him. Stephan Bonnar via TKO R2

Travis Crowe:
Well considering Bonnar usually puts on a good fight, and I have no idea who Igor is other then that he beat The Sandman I am going to make it short and say Bonnar. Stephan Bonnar TKO R2

Jon Gerow:
I’ll take Bonnar in this one, coming off and impressive TKO over Krzysztof look for Bonnar to go for the finish as he’s not afraid to go blow for blow. Stephan Bonnar via TKO R2

Paul Curtis:
Bonnar should be able to control the stand up and be able to avoid being on his back the whole fight. Stephan Bonnar via TKO R3.

Patrick Weafer:
Joe Silva knows Bonnar is a company man, and is rewarding him with this fight. Pokrajac is a tough draw, but Bonnar should have the skills to take this one. Stephan Bonnar via TKO R2.

Michael Johnson vs. Jonathan Brookins (Lightweight Bout)
Mike Bohn:
No clue where either of these guys have been training since the show, they are both impressive but I have a feeling Michael will be the more improved fighter since the show. Michael Johnson via Unanimous Decision.

Erik Jackson:
I don’t waste my time watching amateurs on a silly reality show so I don’t know anything about either of these fighters. That being said I know Michael Johnson was an early favorite to win the show so I’ll pick him. Michael Johnson via Unanimous Decision

Travis Crowe:
Jonathan Brookins via Submission (RNC) R3

Jon Gerow:
Although Brookins walked through everyone he fought on TUF, I think he will have a tough time dealing with the athleticism and power of Johnson. The thing that scares me about Brookins is his stand up, especially his defence. Moreover his fight with Kyle Watson showed zero head movement, he stuck his chin out, and was tentative to throw more than a one punch combination. Consequently Johnson could catch him up against the cage with some bombs (uppercut, left hook) and it might be lights out if Brookins doesn’t defend properly. That being said I can’t pick against Brookins because of his experience, skill set, and his will power. Jonathan Brookins via Unanimous Descision

Paul Curtis:
Could be a very close fight. Johnson is probably the bigger and stronger guy whom I expect him to use to his advantage come Saturday. Look for Johnson to score takedowns and attempt to beat up Brookins. Jonathan I think can win this fight if he can defend takedowns and potentially submit Johnson if he gets on top. But I think the size factor will give Michael the edge. Michael  Johnson via Unanimous Decision.

Patrick Weafer:
With Johnson’s wrestling ability he may have the skills to take this fight. His striking has also looked impressive, with excellent accuracy in his combinations while pressuring. That being said, I think Brookins has a more well rounded game and should be able to handle Johnson en route to winning TUF 12. Jonathan Brookins via Submission R2.

Kendall Grove vs. Damian Maia (Middleweight Bout)
Mike Bohn:
102 homie Damian is sick, Kendall is not. Damian Maia via Submission R2

Erik Jackson:
Damian is always improving as a fighter and has gained my respect in recent fights, most notably the Anderson fight. I think Damian should be able to take this one. Damian Maia via Unanimous Decision

Travis Crowe:
Grove is most likely not going to test his luck on the ground against Maia which leaves a stand up battle in which he will most likely dominate from the outside. That being said Maia is an elite athlete and a far better competitor then Kendall and I expect no less than a victory. Damian Maia via Unanimous Decision

Jon Gerow:
I Don’t know what Grove was thinking when asking for Maia... However I see Maia going back to his submission ways in this one, Grove’s limbs are too long to last 15 minutes with Demian Maia. Demian Maia via Submission (Arm Bar) R3

Paul Curtis:
Maia will score a takedown early, and easily submit Grove. Damian Maia via Submission R1

Patrick Weafer:
Grove will have the striking advantage in this one but Maia should have the skills to dictate where the fight takes place. On the ground Maia should dominate, as he is one of the elite grapplers in the sport. Maia may finish Grove, but I think this one will also go the distance. Damian Maia via Unanimous Decision.

Johny Hendricks vs. Rick Story (Welterweight Bout)
Mike Bohn:
Two powerhouse wrestlers, minus the Amir fight, Hendricks has been a slow starter and does not use his wrestling skills enough. Story does the opposite, he should take this fight. Rick Story via Unanimous Decision

Erik Jackson:
Johny is a homie since beating Amir quite easily. Sure he hasn’t been fighting against top level competition but he’s still undefeated and will be looking to keep that going come Saturday night. Both fighters are on good winning streaks and I do not expect this to go to Decision. Johny Hendricks via TKO R1

Travis Crowe:
Winner of this fight should be deemed relevant in the welterweight division however I just can’t picture either of these fighters in the top 5. Either way this is a win for Johny, he has superior wrestling but hopefully neither will attempt to gain ground by using that. Johny Hendricks via Unanimous Decison

Jon Gerow:
This one should be a war. Both fighters are coming into this fight on a 4 fight winning streak looking to move into the upper tier of the 155 pound division. Indeed I’ve been a Hendricks fan ever since his TKO of Amir Sadollah. Look for Johny to keep his undefeated streak alive. Johny Hendricks via Unanimous Decision

Paul Curtis:
Could end up being a brawl. But expect UFC 117 homie Ricky Story to prevail and put the first loss on Johny's record. Rick Story via Unanimous Decision

Patrick Weafer:
I’ll go with Hendricks to stay undefeated in this one. Johny Hendricks via TKO R3.

Nam Phan vs. Leonard Garcia (Featherweight Bout)
Mike Bohn:
Sick scrap and I like Nam cause he wanks it in the shower not the bed. Leonard Garcia via undeserved Decision

Erik Jackson:
Don’t know much about Nam Phan other than the fact that he almost made it to the finals and was caught tugging one in the shower. Leonard is always ready to bang but I’m still not too sure about his power. Leonard will be looking to make a statement in his crossover to the UFC. Leonard Garcia via Unanimous Decision

Travis Crowe:
Advantage Nam on the ground so says sherdog forums… but both fighters have been known for standing slug matches. Didn’t watch TUF so I am taking a shot in the dark and saying Garcia.
Leonard Garcia via TKO R2

Jon Gerow:
What we know about Phan from TUF is that he a good gas tank, a lot of heart, and effective body shots. Similarly we have also seen an alright gas tank, and a lot of heart from Garcia, but Garcia holds the advantage with his heavy hands. Even with a full training camp and a drop to the 145 pound division I see Phan coming up short in this one. Lenard Garcia via TKO R2

Paul Curtis:
NAM PHAN nuff said!! Probably end up being a sick fight, doubt it will hit the mat unless Garcias gay trainer has a typical boring game plan. But NAM PHAN!!! Nam Phan via Unanimous Decision

Patrick Weafer:
This should be a very entertaining fight. Leonard Garcia always is a game opponent ready to stand and trade with strikes of questionable technique. Now that Nam Phan has had a few months to improve from his time on the show I believe he may have the talent to take this one, and it will be good to see him at his regular fighting weight of 145. Nam Phan via Unanimous Decision.
